The watch says it's getting hot. What should I do?
Apple Watch is not rated for sauna temperatures and will shut itself down to protect the hardware. Heat Journal watches the device's own thermal state and taps you when it rises — first a warning, then a repeating alert. When you feel it, take the watch out of the heat or cool it for a moment (a wet towel or a piece of ice on the case works). The timer keeps running. The alert is about the watch, not about you or the sauna.
How do I use the Action button on Apple Watch Ultra?
Open Settings on the watch, choose Action Button, and assign the Start Session shortcut from Heat Journal. Each press then steps through Start → Pause → Resume. This is a one-time setup Apple requires; apps can't assign the button themselves.
Can I start and stop without touching the screen?
Yes. Double Tap (pinch your index finger and thumb twice, on supported watches) starts, pauses and resumes the timer — useful when your hands are wet.
Why is heart rate showing "Unavailable"?
The app needs permission to read heart rate from Health. On the iPhone, open the Health app, choose Sharing, then Apps and Services → Heat Journal, and turn on heart rate. The timer works without it; you just won't see or record heart rate.
How do I record my weight?
After a session, tap the weight button on the summary screen, or open Settings → Sessions and choose the session. Turn the Digital Crown to set the value; the other unit is shown underneath. On iPhone, tap a session in the list. Flip the Pounds switch to change units — the value converts, it isn't reinterpreted.
I ended a session by mistake.
Right now, ending is final: the session is saved as it was when you pressed stop. Pausing first is the safer habit — the pause button is the large one on the right, and stop is on the left. Three improvements are planned: showing stop only while paused, resuming a session after it has been ended, and merging two sessions into one on the iPhone.
