What the app records
For each sauna session, Heat Journal stores:

That is the complete list. The app does not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or any identifier for you or your device.
Where it is kept
Sessions are saved in a file inside the app's own storage on your Apple Watch and on your iPhone. When you finish a session or edit a weight, the app sends the updated list to your other device using Apple's WatchConnectivity, which runs directly between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch. The data never passes through a server operated by us or anyone else.
Your devices' normal iCloud or iTunes backups may include the app's storage, subject to your own backup settings. We have no access to those backups.
Apple Health
Heat Journal asks for permission to read heart rate so it can show and record it during a session. To keep the timer running in the background and read heart rate live, it runs an Apple Watch workout session while you are in the sauna, which is why it also asks for permission to share workouts. The app does not save any workout or other data to the Health app.
Health data is used only to display heart rate during a session and to store the session's average and maximum. It is never transmitted off your devices except to your own paired device as described above, and it is never used for advertising, analytics, or shared with any third party. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps and Services → Heat Journal.
What the app does not do
- No accounts, sign-in, or user profiles.
- No analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising.
- No third-party services receive your data.
If a future version adds anything to this list — for example anonymous usage statistics — this policy will be updated first, and the change will be described in the App Store release notes.
Deleting your data
Deleting Heat Journal from a device removes all session data stored on that device. Because your iPhone and Apple Watch each keep their own copy, delete the app from both to remove everything. The current version does not yet offer deletion of individual sessions inside the app.
Children
Heat Journal is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
